Jan Guest makes coastal inspired pieces in her Bosham studio.
I take massive inspiration from Chichester Harbour, its history, sea defences, vibrant sailing community and the effects of time, tide and weather. JG
Using high fired ceramics, local and Canadian driftwood and diamond drilled stone, Jan constructs free standing and wall mounted pieces.
“I sort, work and assemble found elements from unrelated sources, then use my hand shaped ceramics to communicate the theme. I try to evoke a sense of calm and peace through materials selection and colour.” JG
Recent themes studied include Jetties, Pontoons, Rockpools, Wreck Diving, Spinnakers, Harbours, Lost Skills and King Canute.
Jan is involved in the Chichester Open Studios Art Trail, Bosham Open Gardens, The Garden Show and Summer Exhibition
