CHEESE AND BACON SCONES

Few things smell as inviting as freshly baked cheese and bacon scones emerging from the oven. Golden on the outside and soft within, these savoury treats combine the smoky richness of crispy bacon with the sharp tang of melted cheese for a comforting twist on a classic favourite. Perfect for brunch, picnics, or an indulgent afternoon snack, they pair beautifully with a dab of butter or a spoonful of chutney. Whether served warm from the tray or packed for later, these scones never fail to satisfy.

Ingredients:

500g self raising flour
80g butter
1 tsp baking powder
350g cheddar cheese
2tbsp grain mustard
300ml milk
100g cooked smoked bacon
Salt and pepper

  1. Mix the flour, butter and baking powder until it resembles fine breadcrumbs
  2. Then add the cheese, milk and mustard
  3. Season with salt and pepper
  4. Roll mix 1cm thick and cut using a 40mm cutter
  5. Bake at 185 degrees centigrade for 12 mins
