OUR TEAM

We pride ourselves on having an approachable and friendly team and receive much praise of our team members. Please do speak with us during your visit and let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable. We have comment cards at reception and welcome all feedback and suggestions.

ANNIE BRIERLEY

Annie celebrated 25 years service with us in 2021. She first worked at the Millstream as a Receptionist in 1983 for a couple of years, before working elsewhere for eleven years thinking that bigger was better! She had a chance meeting with the General Manager who persuaded her to apply for the vacant Head Receptionist role and she returned in 1996. Since then she re-trained in personnel, taking over this role in 2004 and eventually became the Hotel Manager this year.
She engrosses herself in many aspects of the hotel and particularly loves talking to the guests and looking after the staff.
In her spare time she visits her family in Mallorca and suffers going to the gym most mornings before work.

NEIL HISKEY

Neil, our Head Chef and Deputy hotel manager (no mean feat!) joined us in 2000 as a Chef de Partie, having completed a Modern Apprenticeship at Highbury College in Portsmouth.
He has worked his way up the ranks, becoming the Head Chef in 2010, whilst being instrumental in helping the hotel achieve (and maintain) 2AA rosettes in 2007.
Neil is our most experienced first aider and not only looks after our Sea School restaurant but also Marwick’s Brasserie and our coffee shop, Pop-in and café, Shoreside in the village.
He spends his limited spare time travelling overseas to gain ideas for our menus (Thai food being his first love) and is an avid gym goer.

RACHAEL CHRISTIE

Rachael has a wealth of experience and knowledge from the variety of roles that she has had at the Millstream since starting with us as a work experience student in 2006.

She knows the hotel inside out having worked as Reception Manager, Function Administrator and more recently Accounts Manager, having achieved her AAT Level 4 in 2016. She is now studying for CIMA Professional Qualification. As well as the day-to-day finance tasks she is also involved in revenue management for the hotel, and you’ll see her popping up on reception to lend a hand when needed.

Rachael lives in a colourful, eclectic house in Havant with her partner and two chihuahuas, Olli & Otis, and whenever possible she loves heading out in their campervan.

ZOE HALL

Zoe joined the housekeeping team in 2014 as a room attendant, having re-trained in hospitality at Chichester College, after a career break raising her three children.
She was promoted to Deputy Housekeeper in 2016 and then to Head Housekeeper in 2019. She enjoys motivating her team to maintain our high standards of cleanliness.
In a previous life Zoe worked with horses and now never has a spare moment as she has five horses, three dogs, a rabbit and three (with a fourth on the way) grandchildren to care for. She keeps it in the family as two of her children also work at the hotel.

TIM JACKSON

Tim is another of our long-standing team members.
He started working with us in 1999 as a waiter. He was soon promoted to Breakfast Supervisor in 2000 and went on to become our Head Waiter seven years later.
When our Maintenance Manager retired Tim decided to have a complete change and go back to his practical roots (having trained as a motor mechanic at college) and in 2013 moved to the maintenance department gaining knowledge of all the hotels inner workings.
Tim can be seen flashing by, travelling to work on his motorbike from Hayling Island. He lives with his wife, Tomoko, who he met when she was doing work experience at the hotel from her native Japan, and their two young daughter’s Natsumi and Misaki.

HANS TEGNER

Hans may be the longest serving kitchen porter in West Sussex or beyond! Hans has been responsible for washing our crockery and pots and pans and keeping our kitchen spick and span since May 1999.
He has been with us through thick and thin, working with many different colleagues, seeing changes in technology, and sticking with us during the pandemic.
Hans was first seen darting around a local pub in Chichester where he was “head hunted” and has been with us ever since.
He lives with his husband in Southsea with their four budgies, Buzz, Chas, Isabella, and Leo.
